Along with every parish in the country, we are being encouraged by the Church of England to make Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee a very special occasion in our parish, and to arrange a special service to celebrate this momentous achievement. We will be holding a joint Benefice service for the congregations of our two churches, both Pulford and Eccleston, in St Mary’s Eccleston at 11.15 am on Sunday 3rd June 2012 (the Sunday of the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend), and following the service there will be a bring-your-own picnic in the church grounds, along with some musical entertainment and children’s entertainment. So ….. Please join us in the celebrations on 3rd June - Everyone will be very welcome! |
Welcome back to school and our summer term, I hope everyone had a lovely Easter holiday.
This term our topic is Myths and Legends. The children will be reading and responding to fiction and non-fiction books about Myths and Legends from around the world. In maths we are concentrating on the four operations for calculation - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, plus work on problem solving and using money. Our science work is aboutforces and links with our history topic aboutthe Olympics games and the events which made up the ancient games and those in the modern games. In our RE work we will be investigating special days covering a variety of religions.
In PE the class will be working outside on rounders, cricket and athletics skills. Every child is required to have a PE kit in school for these sessions. Kit should include shorts, t/shirt and appropriate footwear. Although our sessions are usually on a Thursday and Friday, kit should be in school for the whole week for any extra sessions we may have.
Thank you for your continued support.
Have your say on the standardised school year
The public consultation and this document are designed to ensure the school community and stakeholders can see and understand the proposal, and that they have the opportunity to comment. The formal consultation will last 12 weeks and during this time we hope to gather as much feedback as possible. We want to hear what you feel would be the advantages and disadvantages of moving to a Standardised School Year.
The Proposal
Cheshire West and Chester Council is responsible for setting school term dates for the majority of its schools within the Borough (Community and Voluntary Controlled status) but can only recommend them to Foundation, Voluntary Aided and Academy schools.
The proposal is to adopt a Standardised School Year model for Cheshire West and Chester’s Community and Voluntary Controlled schools. This proposal would enable the Authority to align its school term dates with other Authorities in the Learn Together Partnership (LTP). This partnership consists of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cheshire East Council, Wirral Council, Liverpool City Council, Sefton Council, Knowlsley Council, St Helen’s Council, Warrington Borough Council and Halton Borough Council.
If Cheshire West and Chester Council agree to adopt the Standardised School Year model the intention is for it to be implemented in the 2013/14 academic year. Foundation, Voluntary Aided and Academy schools would also be strongly encouraged to adopt this model.
